PRESS RELEASE
Advanced Traffic Control, Inc.
Completes Midtown Tunnel Project
Coconut Creek, FL - June 1, 2007
- Advanced Traffic Control, Inc. has successfully completed the system
integration of the Midtown Tunnel Traffic Management System, which provides
the traffic management for the Pinner's Point Interchange project.
This project was originally scheduled to complete
in December of 2003, but due to delays by the Pinner's Point contractor,
final availability of the traffic control devices was not provided to
ATC for integration until January of 2007. Significant differences between
the two contracts were successfully handled by the ATC Systems Integration
team, including changes to the field device configuration, lane configuration,
and even to the communications protocol made by the Pinner's Point subcontractor
occurring as late as January of 2007. In spite of the limitations of the
field control delivered by the Pinner's Point contractor, ATC has provided
the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) with a fault tolerant,
fully functional and complete NewTON (New Tunnel Operations Network) traffic
control system. This is the fourth successful NewTON system installed
by ATC for the Virginia DOT in the Norfolk area.
This system provides NTCIP compliant control of
the Dynamic Message Signs on the project using our patent pending NTCIP
to OPC driver, while also communicating from the same computer to 170e
Traffic Controllers using the ATC OPC to Legacy driver. Operators are
unaware that these devices use different communications methodologies
as they coexist on the screens of the operator's consoles seamlessly
Advanced Traffic Control's engineers
combine 30 years of process control experience with Intelligent Traffic
Systems technology to design, build, and upgrade Traffic Control Centers.
Using commercial-off-the shelf SCADA technology as a base, ATC provides
robust, stable, distributed systems to government agencies, and an Advanced
Fault Tolerant Solution which provides constant availability, protecting
against data, hardware, and software failures.
