Our AFTS system brings fault tolerance to the Microsoft Windows™ world, providing both constant availability and protection from data, hardware and software failures. The AFTS switching feature also permits system maintenance with no system downtime (see our White Paper on Maintaining Constant Availability Systems).

Our AFTS solution is unique in that we support fault tolerance for RS-232 devices that require real-time communications not possible through serial over IP solutions (such as multidrop traffic control devices that are polled frequently).

AFTS is modeled on systems our own Frank Roark successfully put on minicomputers years ago. Advanced Fault Tolerant Solution systems are in operation at the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel in Newport News, Virginia, the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel in Hampton, Virginia , the Elizabeth River Tunnel and the Midtown Tunnels in Norfolk, Virginia . The AFTS systems at the Hampton Roads and Elizabeth River tunnels replaced hardware fault tolerant solutions from Marathon Technologies.
