Graphical Traffic Information
System (GTIS).
Frank
Roark, serving as Principal
Project Engineer, designed and implemented
the GTIS project which extracted data from the MODCOMP® systems then doing
data collection and control of the HRBT, ERT, and MMMBT tunnels and bridges.
GTIS transferred data from the MODCOMPs to PCs running QNX via a high speed
parallel interface, forwarded it to a central system running UNIX where it
was analyzed for traffic volumes and made available to dial up users on a
Windows program as color graphics. GTIS supplied data may be seen on
line at the vdot
site. This project was completed in 1997.
